OBOR® Geotextile Tube is one of the most effective components that are most usually used in protective structure of waterproof erosion. Soft mattress is covered to the places where water flows to reduce the impact energy of water flow and protect soil particles from being flown away by water flow by means of its filtration function, thus, ensuring the stability of soil mass.

Applications

Geotubes are supplied to site and placed into position.  Sludge which is treated with specialist polymers is then pumped into the containers and the clear effluent water is then drained leaving the solid remains within the container.  When full the containers can be disposed at a landfill or the solids removed and land-applied.  This simple but effective process makes Geotube dewatering containers ideal for the Pulp and Paper industries for primary and secondary lagoon clean out and for mining processes to remove tailing, coal sludge and other minerals.  Geotube dewatering containers have also been used for water and wastewater treatment dewatering to provide a reduction of up to 85% to 90% in BOD and in agriculture to efficiently manage waste in the dairy, poultry and other agricultural industries

Every geotextile tube project is unique. As such, general guidelines can be described, but each project requires consultation with a geotextile tube expert to identify the project's singular attributes and to design the sludge dewatering process accordingly. It is of utmost importance to place the geotextile tube on a level ground and before deploying, any barriers ,such as stone ,sundry , have to be removed as to prevent them from influencing the deploying effect. After the geotextile tube delivered to the site, secure it on ground with external steel pipe or timber pile to fix the position of geotube. Prepare the feeding equipment in advance, like cutter head and suction dredge (for dredged materials), feed pump (for sludge materials),which are to be used in the following operations.
Geotextile tube have a "shirt-sleeve" style filling port. Simply place the pump hose into the port and secure it with a hose clamp, tie-wire or duct tape. Once the pumping begins, clear, effluent water will drain from the tube through the small openings in the permeable geotextile fabric. Meanwhile, the sludge dewatering tube bottom will develop a filter cake quickly, so the water will decant mainly out of the sides and top of the tube gradually.
After a long-time cycle of repeated cycles of filling and dewatering, over 99% of solids are captured. Typically, the decanted water can be returned to waterways without additional treatment. If any erosion caused around the tube, deploy the sump pumps at the all four corners of the area to collect the effluent.
 
  • Filling -- Sludge (dredged material) is pumped into the tube container. Environmentally-safe polymers are added to the sludge, which makes the solids bind together and water separate. The TenCate tube?container's unique fabric confines the fine grains of the material.
 
  • Dewatering -- Clear effluent water simply drains from the tube container through the small pores in the specially engineered textile. This results in effective dewatering and efficient volume reduction of the contained materials. And this volume reduction allows for the repeated filling of the tube container. Over 99% of solids are captured, and clear filtrate can be collected and recirculated through the system. The decanted water is often of a quality that can be reused/returned for processing or returned to native waterways without additional treatment.
 
  • Consolidation -- After the final cycle of filling and dewatering, the solids remain in the bag and continue to densify due to desiccation as residual water vapor escapes through the fabric. Volume reduction can be as high as 90 percent. When full, the tube container and contents can be deposited at a landfill, remain on-site, or the solids can be removed and land-applied when appropriate.

Notes:
  • 1- During pumping, the elevation or height of the tube needs to be monitored to prevent ruptures. Typically, keep the height to be 80% is more a optimum.
  • 2- The sands gathered the most at the entrance of port , so adjust the sand concentration at the proper time to assure the sands depositing smoothly.
  • 3- To fill the tube to its required height, the designed height should be equal or greater than the half of the diameter of geotextile tube.
  • 4- The sand concentration of the dewatered material shoul.
